oh, hello again

i am once again with computer - this time for good! the holidays were wonderful and spent with my loved ones, and for the most part, will continue to be until the new year arrives. i hope that everyone had the chance to feel warm and fuzzy on the insides over the past few weeks, and i hope even more so that 2010 brings us all the things we are working toward! (including more frequent blog updates)

here are some of the few photos, borrowed from my sister and boyfriend, that were taken over the holidays - including my "gingerbread" (graham cracker) house. the first of my holga scans of random recent experiences are in the near future (if my film isn't ruined!)

and because i failed to post this two months ago, here's what halloween looked like (thanks jj):

oh hay

been busy moving the last two weeks. i guess i have a lot of stuff, and downsizing is hard! an etsy update can be expected later on this week, including some beautiful vintage dresses.

i've rekindled my relationship with my holga. it's a wonderful feeling.

moving up!

within the next three weeks i'll be moving out of my current sweltering and rather sketchy apartment building and into a cozy new basement suite on the "nice side" of nanaimo street. i will finally be living in a home that i can properly organize and decorate to my heart's content. i'm feeding my interior decorating craving by frequent visits to one of my favorite design-related blogs, design sponge, to gather ideas. at the moment, i especially love the idea of tiny vases full of delicate dried flowers, such as these.

sick day

today is my "sunday" and over the course of last night i've developed an awful head cold. so instead of doing the sewing work i had planned, i made myself some delicious vegan pancakes and borrowed books and movies from the library to curl up with. i signed out one of those "idiot's guide" type books about knitting, in the hopes to get a beginning grasp on the craft. i love the idea of being able to knit cardigans some day in the (distant) future!

vegan strawberry walnut pancakes for one!
(double the recipe for two)

1 cup bisquick
1/2 cup soymilk
1 "egg" - i use ener-g egg replacer
1 small handful of crushed walnuts
1/2 cup of cut up strawberries
"butter" (i use earth balance) bananas, strawberries and confectioner's sugar for topping

mix all of the ingredients in a bowl, and spoon onto a warm pan (let it heat up at medium temperature for a few minutes first) in 1/4 cup-fulls. the slower you cook them, the tastier they will be! add toppings and eat your heart out.

inspiration does not simply appear, i must seek it and grow from it.
